عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ
سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَفِي يَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعَرٍ يَقُولُ: شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ هَذِهِ
Translation
✧ He heard Muʿāwiya b. Abī Sufyān, with a lock of hair in his hand, saying: I witnessed the Messenger of God ﷺ forbidding the like of this, and he said: The Children of Israel were punished when their women took up this.
