✧ Lying Down After Witr, and the Chapter on Voluntary Night Prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ أُصَدِّقُ: أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ يَضْطَجِعُ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَيُؤْذِنَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، لَمْ يَضْطَجِعْ لِسُنَّةٍ، وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ يَدْأَبُ لَيْلَهُ فَيَسْتَرِيحُ، " قَالَ: نص إضافيفَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَحْصِبُهُمْ إِذَا رَآهُمْ يَضْطَجِعُونَ عَلَى أَيْمَانِهِمْ
Translation
✧ When dawn broke, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would pray two brief rak'ahs, then lie on his right side until the mu'adhdhin came and informed him that the prayer was due. He did not lie down as a sunnah, but because he would toil during his night and thus rest. He said: Additional text: Ibn 'Umar would throw pebbles at them when he saw them lying on their right sides.
