✧ The Prophet's ﷺ Night Prayer and His Witr

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِلْأَنْصَارِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
قَالَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ: مَنْ يَتَقَدَّمُ فَيَسْتَقِي لَنَا ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَنَا، وَذَلِكَ مَرْجِعَهُمْ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ: فَوَرَدْتُ أَثَايَةَ فَاسْتَقَيْتُ وَمَلَأْتُ الْحَوْضَ، فَوَرَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: " أَتَسْقِي ؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، بِأَبِي أَنْتَ، فَسَقَى ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُ خِطَامَهُ أَوْ زِمَامَهُ، فَعَمَدْتُ بِهِ إِلَى بَطْحَاءَ نَزَلَ بِهَا فَصَلَّى ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ قَالَ: حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ ثُمَّ صَلَّاهَا
Translation
✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal said: Who will go ahead and draw water for us? He said: I said: I will. That was on their return from al-Hudaybiyyah. Jabir said: I arrived at Athayah and drew water and filled the basin. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ arrived and said: “Are you giving water to drink?” I said: Yes, may my father be sacrificed for you. So he drank. Then I took his nose ring or rein and led him to an open flat area where he dismounted and prayed thirteen rak'ahs after the last evening prayer, while I was beside him. He said: I think he said: He prayed the last evening prayer and then prayed them.
