✧ A Man Prays Witr Then Wakes Up and Wants to Pray

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قَيْسٍ الْأَوْدِيُّ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ الْأَوْدِيَّ عَنْ نَقْصِ الْوِتْرِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِذَا أَوْتَرْتَ، ثُمَّ قُمْتَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، فَاشْفَعْ بِرَكْعَةٍ قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَلْقَمَةَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ عَمْرًا لَا يَدْرِي، إِنَّمَا الْوِتْرُ وَاحِدَةٌ، فَإِذَا أَوْتَرْتَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظْتَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلِّ شَفْعًا حَتَّى تُصْبِحَ
Translation
✧ I asked ʿAmr b. Maymūn al-Awdī about making up the witr. He said: "When you pray witr and then get up during the night, make it even with a rakʿah." He said: I mentioned that to ʿAlqamah, and he said: "ʿAmr does not know. Witr is only one. When you pray witr and then wake up during the night, pray an even number until morning."
