عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ:
أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ تَذَاكَرَا الْوِتْرَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَأَنَامُ عَلَى وِتْرٍ، فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظْتُ صَلَّيْتُ شَفْعًا حَتَّى الصَّبَاحِ، وَقَالَ عُمَرُ: لَكِنِّي أَنَامُ عَلَى شَفْعٍ، ثُمَّ أُوتِرُ مِنَ السَّحَرِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: حَذِرَ هَذَا وَقَالَ لِعُمَرَ: " قَوِيَ هَذَا
Translation
✧ Abu Bakr and Umar discussed witr in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Bakr said: As for me, I sleep on witr, and if I wake I pray pairs until morning. Umar said: But I sleep on an even number, then perform witr in the pre-dawn. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr: “This one is cautious,” and to Umar: “This one is strong.”
