✧ One Who Forgot the Prayer of Residence, and Combining Two Prayers While Traveling

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، وَعَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَى قَالَ: كَانَ إِذَا زَاغَتْ لَهُ الشَّمْسُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ، وَإِذَا لَمْ تَزِغْ لَهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ سَارَ حَتَّى إِذَا حَانَتِ الْعَصْرُ نَزَلَ فَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ، وَإِذَا حَانَتْ لَهُ الْمَغْرِبُ وَهُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ جَمَعَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الْعِشَاءِ، وَإِذَا لَمْ تَحِنْ لَهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ رَكِبَ حَتَّى إِذَا حَانَتِ الْعِشَاءُ نَزَلَ فَجَمَعَ بَيْنَهُمَا
Translation
✧ Shall I not inform you about the prayer of the Messenger of God ﷺ while traveling? We said: 'Yes.' He said: When the sun declined for him while he was in his camp, he would combine the noon and afternoon prayers before mounting. If it did not decline while he was in his camp, he would travel until the time for the afternoon prayer came, then dismount and combine the noon and afternoon prayers. When the time for sunset came while he was in his camp, he would combine it with the night prayer. If it did not come while he was in his camp, he would ride until the time for the night prayer came, then dismount and combine them.
