✧ One Who Forgot the Prayer of Residence, and Combining Two Prayers While Traveling

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ أَخْبَرَهُمْ
أَنَّهُمْ خَرَجُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى تَبُوكَ قَالَ: فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ قَالَ: فَأَخَّرَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمًا، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ سَتَأْتُونَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ غَدًا عَيْنَ تَبُوكَ، وَإِنَّكُمْ تَأْتُونَهَا بِضُحَى النَّهَارِ، فَمَنْ جَاءَهَا فَلَا يَمَسَّ مِنْ مَائِهَا شَيْئًا حَتَّى آتِيَ " قَالَ: فَجِئْنَاهَا وَقَدْ سَبَقَ إِلَيْهَا رَجُلَانِ، وَالْعَيْنُ مِثْلُ الشِّرَاكِ تَبِضُّ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ، فَسَأَلَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " هَلْ مَسِسْتُمَا مِنْ مَائِهَا ؟ " قَالَا: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: فَسَبَّهُمَا وَقَالَ لَهُمَا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ، ثُمَّ غَرَفُوا مِنَ الْعَيْنِ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ قَلِيلًا حَتَّى اجْتَمَعَ فِي إِنَاءٍ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَهُ فِيهَا، فَجَرَتِ الْعَيْنُ بِمَاءٍ كَثِيرٍ، فَاسْتَقَى النَّاسُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " يُوشِكُ يَا مُعَاذُ إِنْ طَالَتْ بِكَ حَيَاتُكَ أَنْ تَرَى مَا هَاهُنَا قَدْ مُلِئَ جِنَانًا
Translation
✧ They went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ to Tabuk. He said: The Prophet ﷺ used to combine the noon and afternoon prayers, and the sunset and night prayers. He said: One day he delayed the prayer, then came out and prayed the noon and afternoon prayers together, then came out and prayed the sunset and night prayers together. Then he said: 'Tomorrow, God willing, you will come to the spring of Tabuk, and you will come to it in the forenoon. Whoever comes to it, let him not touch any of its water until I arrive.' He said: We came to it, and two men had already preceded us to it. The spring was like a sandal strap, trickling with a little water. The Messenger of God ﷺ asked them: 'Have you touched any of its water?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: He rebuked them and said to them whatever God willed him to say. Then they scooped a little water from the spring with their hands until it gathered in a vessel. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ washed his face and hands in it, then returned it to the spring, and the spring flowed with abundant water, and the people drew water. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'It is likely, O Mu'adh, if your life is prolonged, that you will see this place filled with gardens.'
