Translation
✧ I asked al-Sha'bi at the time of the Hajj. He said: I said, 'I come to Kufa where my grandmother and my family are?' He said: Which of the garrison cities is better, or he said greater? Then he answered me, saying, 'Is it not Madinah?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'I asked Ibn Umar about that, and he said, "I come to the house in which I was born - meaning Makkah - and I do not add more than two rak'ahs."' Al-Sha'bi said, 'I would stay a year or two praying two rak'ahs,' or he said, 'I do not add more than two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs.'
