✧ When does a traveler shorten the prayer when he sets out on a journey

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ وِقَاءِ بْنِ إِيَاسٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الْأَسَدِيُّ قَالَ:
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ عَلِيٍّ وَنَحْنُ نَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَهُوَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْقَرْيَةِ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: أَلَا تُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا ؟ قَالَ: " حَتَّى نَدْخُلَهَا
Translation
✧ We went out with Ali while we were watching Kufa, and he prayed two rakʿahs. Then he returned and prayed two rakʿahs while he was looking at the village. We said to him, "Will you not pray four?" He said, "Until we enter it."
