✧ The prayer of fear

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَسْوَدَ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ الْحَنْظَلِيِّ قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ - أُرَاهُ قَالَ: بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ - فَقَالَ: أَيُّكُمْ شَهِدَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: أَنَا قَالَ: فَقَامَ صَفٌّ خَلْفَهُ وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِيَ الْعَدُوِّ " قَالَ: " فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الرَّكْعَةَ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ
Translation
✧ We were with Sa‘īd b. al-‘Āṣ – I think he said at Ṭabaristān – and he said: “Which of you witnessed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of God ﷺ?” Ḥudhayfah said: “I did.” He said: Then a row stood behind him and a row facing the enemy. He said: “He prayed one rak‘ah with them. Then those went to the positions of those, and he prayed one rak‘ah with them. Then he departed.”
