عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَمَعَ لَيْلَةً أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ يُخَافِتُ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فِي صَلَاتِهِ، وَاسْتَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ، وَاسْتَمَعَ بِلَالًا فَإِذَا هُوَ يَأْخُذُ مِنْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ وَمِنْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ، فَقَالَ: " اسْتَمَعْتُ إِلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَإِذَا أَنْتَ تَخْفِضُ صَوْتَكَ " قَالَ: أَخْفِضُ أَنْتَجِي رَبِّي. قَالَ: " وَاسْتَمَعْتُ إِلَيْكَ يَا عُمَرُ فَإِذَا أَنْتَ تَرْفَعُ صَوْتَكَ " قَالَ: أُنَفِّرُ الشَّيْطَانَ، وَأُوقِظُ النَّائِمَ. قَالَ: " وَاسْتَمَعْتُ إِلَيْكَ يَا بِلَالُ وَإِذَا أَنْتَ تَأْخُذُ مِنْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ وَمِنْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ " قَالَ: أَجْمَعُ الطَّيِّبَ بِالطَّيِّبِ، أَخْلِطُ بَعْضَهُ إِلَى بَعْضٍ قَالَ: " كُلُّ هَذَا حَسَنٌ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ one night listened to Abu Bakr and found him reciting quietly in his prayer. He listened to Umar and found him raising his voice. He listened to Bilal and found him taking from this surah and from that surah. He said: "I listened to you, O Abu Bakr, and you lower your voice." He said: "I lower it to confide in my Lord." He said: "And I listened to you, O Umar, and you raise your voice." He said: "I frighten the devil and wake the sleeper." He said: "And I listened to you, O Bilal, and you take from this surah and from that surah." He said: "I combine the good with the good; I mix some of it with some." He said: "All of this is good."
