عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَقُولُ:
قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَقَالَ: قُمْ يَا كَثِيرُ بْنَ الصَّلْتِ إِلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَاسْأَلْهَا عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ: فَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ، وَأَرْسَلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ، فَأَتَيْنَا عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ: لَا أَدْرِي، سَلُوا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، فَأَتَيْنَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، لَمْ أَكُنْ أَرَاهُ يُصَلِّيهِمَا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا هَاتَانِ الرَّكْعَتَانِ ؟ قَالَ: قَدِمَ وَفْدٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ - أَوْ قَالَ: قَدِمَتْ صَدَقَةٌ - وَكُنْتُ أُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ، فَلَمْ أَكُنْ صَلَّيْتُهُمَا، فَهُمَا هَاتَانِ
Translation
✧ Mu'awiya came to Madinah and said: "Rise, Kathir b. al-Salt, and go to the Mother of the Believers and ask her about the two rak'as after Asr." Abu Salama said: "So I went with him, and Ibn Abbas sent Abdullah b. al-Harith. We came to Aisha and she said: 'I do not know; ask Umm Salama.' So we went to Umm Salama and she said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to us one day and prayed two rak'as after Asr. I had not seen him pray them before, so I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are these two rak'as?" He said: "A delegation from Banu Tamim arrived—or he said: some charity arrived—and I used to pray two rak'as after Zuhr, but I had not prayed them, so these are those two."'",
