✧ The imam's shortening of the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ الثَّقَفِيِّ،
وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى الطَّائِفِ قَالَ: وَكَانَ آخِرُ شَيْءٍ عَهِدَهُ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ أُخَفِّفَ عَنِ النَّاسِ الصَّلَاةَ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ had appointed him over al-Ta'if. He said: And the last thing the Messenger of God ﷺ enjoined upon me was to lighten the prayer for the people.
