✧ The imam's shortening of the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
إِذَا أَمَّ أَحَدُكُمْ لِلنَّاسِ فَلْيُخَفِّفِ الصَّلَاةَ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الْكَبِيرَ، وَالضَّعِيفَ، وَالسَّقِيمَ، وَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ فَلْيُطِلْ صَلَاتَهُ مَا شَاءَ
Translation
✧ When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should lighten the prayer, for among them are the elderly, the weak, and the sick. But when he prays alone, he may lengthen his prayer as he wishes.
