قَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ: قَالَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، أَوْ غَيْرُهُ:
قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْسٍ لِسَعْدٍ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ لَا تَنْفِرُ فِي السَّرِيَّةِ، وَلَا تَعْدِلُ فِي الرَّعِيَّةِ، وَلَا تَقْسِمُ فِي السَّوِيَّةِ، فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ كَذَبَ فَأَعْمِ بَصَرَهُ، وَعَرِّضْهُ لِلْفِتَنِ، وَأَطِلْ فَقْرَهُ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ أَصَابَتْنِي دَعْوَةُ سَعْدٍ
Translation
✧ A man from Banu Abs said to Sa'd: "O Allah, you do not go out on raiding parties, you do not act justly toward the subjects, and you do not distribute equally." Sa'd said: "O Allah, if he has lied, then blind his sight, expose him to trials, and prolong his poverty." Some of them said: "I saw him saying: 'The supplication of Sa'd has befallen me.'"
