عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، إِذْ جَاءَ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ يَشْكُونَ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فَقَالُوا: إِنَّهُ لَا يُحْسِنُ يُصَلِّي، فَبَيْنَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ مَرَّ بِهِمْ سَعْدٌ، فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ يَشْكُونَكَ، وَزَعَمُوا أَنَّكَ لَا تُحْسِنُ تُصَلِّي " قَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَأُصَلِّي بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، " فَأُصَلِّي بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ فَأَرْكُدُ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ وَأَحْذِفُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: كَذَلِكَ الظَّنُّ يَا أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ
Translation
✧ I was sitting with Umar b. al-Khattab when the people of Kufa came complaining about Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas. They said: "He does not pray well." While they were thus, Sa'd passed by them, so he called him and said: "These people complain about you and claim that you do not pray well." He said: "As for me, I lead them in the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I lead them in the Isha prayer and pause at length in the first two rak'ahs and make the last two light." Umar said: "That is what is expected of you, O Abu Ishaq."
