✧ The man who prays while in a state of janabah

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ زُبَيْدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ إِلَى الْجُرُفِ، فَنَظَرَ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَدِ احْتَلَمَ، فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَغْتَسِلْ، فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا أُرَانِي إِلَّا وَقَدِ احْتَلَمْتُ وَمَا شَعَرْتُ، وَصَلَّيْتُ وَمَا شَعَرْتُ قَالَ: " فَاغْتَسَلَ وَغَسَلَ مَا رَأَى فِي ثَوْبِهِ، وَنَضَحَ مَا لَمْ يَرَ، ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ وَأَقَامَ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَعْدَ مَا ارْتَفَعَ الضُّحَى مُتَمَكِّنًا
Translation
✧ We went out with Umar b. al-Khattab to al-Jurf. He looked and saw that he had had a wet dream. He prayed without performing ghusl. He said: 'By God, I think I had a wet dream without realizing it, and I prayed without realizing it.' He said: 'So he performed ghusl and washed what he saw on his garment, and sprinkled water on what he did not see. Then he called the adhan and iqamah, and then prayed after the forenoon had risen, unhurriedly.'
