عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
بَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِأَصْحَابِهِ بِطَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ، مَرَّ رَجُلٌ يَطْرُدُ شَوْلًا لَهُ، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَفْطِنْ، فَصَرَخَ بِهِ عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ: يَا صَاحِبَ الشَّوْلِ رُدَّ إِبِلَكَ، فَرَدَّهَا، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ: " مَنِ الْمُتَكَلِّمُ ؟ " قَالُوا: عُمَرُ قَالَ: " يَا لَكَ فَقِهًا يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ "، قُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا الشَّوْلُ ؟ قَالَ: فِرْقَةٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ
Translation
✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was praying with his companions on the road to Makkah, a man passed by driving some shawl of his, so the Prophet ﷺ gestured to him but he did not understand. ʿUmar shouted at him, saying: O owner of the shawl, turn back your camels. So he turned them back. When the Prophet ﷺ finished praying, he said: "Who was the speaker?" They said: ʿUmar. He said: "How excellent a jurist you are, O Ibn al-Khaṭṭāb!" I said to him: What is shawl? He said: A group of camels.
