عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، وَخَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ كَعْبٍ فَمَرَرْنَا بِرَجُلٍ يَرْكَعُ وَيَسْجُدُ، لَا يَدْرِي أَعَلَى شَفْعٍ هُوَ أَمْ عَلَى وِتْرٍ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَأُرْشِدَنَّ هَذَا، فَتَخَلَّفْتُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَعَلَى شَفْعٍ أَنْتَ أَمْ عَلَى وِتْرٍ ؟ قَالَ: " قَدْ كُفِيتُ "، قُلْتُ: مَنْ كَفَاكَ ؟ قَالَ: " الْكِرَامُ الْكَاتِبُونَ " قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَنْ سَجَدَ لِلهِ سَجْدَةً كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ بِهَا حَسَنَةً، وَرَفَعَ لَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " قَالَ: ثُمَّ قُلْتُ: مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ: أَبُو ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: " ثَكِلَتْ مُطَرِّفًا أُمُّهُ، أَبِي ذَرٍّ يَعْرِفُ السُّنَّةَ "، قَالَ: فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ: " أَيْنَ مُطَرِّفٌ ؟ " قَالَ قِيلَ: تَخَلَّفَ يُرْشِدُ رَجُلًا رَآهُ لَا يَدْرِي أَعَلَى شَفْعٍ هُوَ أَمْ عَلَى وِتْرٍ ؟ فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ: " مَنْ سَجَدَ لِلهِ سَجْدَةً كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ بِهَا حَسَنَةً وَرَفَعَ لَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً
Translation
✧ I was walking with Kaʿb and we passed by a man performing rukūʿ and sujūd, not knowing whether he was on an even or odd number. He said: I said: I will surely guide this man, so I stayed behind and said: O Abū ʿAbd Allāh, are you on an even or odd number? He said: "I have been sufficed." I said: Who sufficed you? He said: "The noble recording angels." He said: Then he said: "Whoever prostrates to Allah one prostration, Allah writes for him thereby a good deed, raises him thereby a degree, and erases from him thereby a sin." He said: Then I said: Who are you? He said: Abū Dharr. He said: I said: "May Muṭarrif's mother be bereaved of him! Abū Dharr knows the sunnah." He said: Kaʿb said: "Where is Muṭarrif?" He said: It was said: He stayed behind to guide a man whom he saw not knowing whether he was on an even or odd number. Kaʿb said: "Whoever prostrates to Allah one prostration, Allah writes for him thereby a good deed, raises him thereby a degree, and erases from him thereby a sin."
