✧ Forgetfulness in prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

إِذَا لَمْ تَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّيْتَ فَعُدْ لِصَلَاتِكَ كُلِّهَا، فَإِنْ أَثْبَتَّ أَنَّكَ صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَلَمْ تَدْرِ فِيمَا سِوَاهُمَا كَمْ صَلَّيْتَ، فَعُدْ لِلَّذِي شَكَكْتَ فِيهَا، وَلَا تَعُدْ لِلرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ قَدْ أَثْبَتَّ، وَاسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَأَنْتَ جَالِسٌ، فَإِنْ شَكَكْتَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَلَا تَعُدْ، فَإِنَّمَا الْعَوْدُ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً

Translation

✧ If you do not know how much you have prayed, repeat your entire prayer. If you are certain that you prayed two rakʿahs but do not know how much you prayed beyond them, repeat only what you are unsure about, and do not repeat the two rakʿahs about which you are certain. Then prostrate twice while sitting. But if you doubt a second time, do not repeat; repetition is only once.
