✧ One who enters the mosque when its people have already prayed — may he offer voluntary prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَسْأَلُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ: جِئْتُ إِلَى قَوْمٍ وَقَدْ صَلَّوْا أَفَأُقِيمُ ؟ قَالَ: " قَدْ كُفِيتَ " قَالَ: أَتَطَوَّعُ ؟ قَالَ: " ابْدَأْ بِالَّذِي جِئْتَ لَهُ "
Translation
✧ I heard a man ask Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Layla: I came to a people who had already prayed; should I perform the iqamah? He said: You have been spared. He said: Should I offer voluntary prayer? He said: Begin with that for which you came.
