✧ How Bowing and Prostration Are Done

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، وَالْأَسْوَدِ، قَالَا:
صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ طَبَّقَ كَفَّيْهِ، وَوَضَعَهُمَا بَيْنَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَضَرَبَ أَيْدِيَنَا، فَفَعَلْنَا ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ لَقِينَا عُمَرَ بَعْدُ، فَصَلَّى بِنَا فِي بَيْتِهِ، فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ طَبَّقْنَا كَفَّيْنَا كَمَا طَبَّقَ عَبْدُ اللهِ، وَوَضَعَ عُمَرُ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: " مَا هَذَا ؟ " فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِفِعْلِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ كَانَ يُفْعَلُ ثُمَّ تُرِكَ
Translation
✧ We prayed with Abd Allah, and when he bowed, he applied tatbiq with his palms and placed them between his knees, and he struck our hands, so we did that. Then we later met Umar, and he prayed with us in his house. When he bowed, we applied tatbiq with our palms as Abd Allah had done, while Umar placed his hands on his knees. When he finished, he said: "What is this?" We told him about Abd Allah's practice. He said: That is something that used to be done and then was abandoned.
