عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ الْأَزْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ، وَيَقُولُ: لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ، لِيَلِيَنِّي مِنْكُمْ أُولُو الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنُّهَى، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ "، قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ: " فَأَنْتُمُ الْيَوْمَ أَشَدُّ اخْتِلَافًا ".

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to wipe our shoulders in prayer and say: "Do not differ, lest your hearts differ. Let those of you with maturity and understanding stand nearest to me, then those next to them, then those next to them." Abu Mas'ud said: "But today you are more different than ever."
