✧ The Middle Prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَبِيدَةَ:
سَلْ عَلِيًّا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ: كُنَّا نَرَى أَنَّهَا صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ، حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ: شَغَلُونَا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ، مَلَأَ اللهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَأَجْوَافَهُمْ نَارًا
Translation
✧ Ask Ali about the middle prayer. So he asked him, and he said: 'We used to think that it is the Asr prayer, until I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say on the day of the Trench: They kept us occupied from the middle prayer, the Asr prayer. May God fill their graves and their bellies with fire.'
