✧ The Time of the Morning Prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي كَثِيرُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ،
أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ وَقْتِ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، فَقَالَ: صَلِّهَا الْيَوْمَ مَعَنَا وَغَدًا، فَلَمَّا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَاعِ نَمِرَةَ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ صَلَّاهَا حِينَ طَلَعَ أَوَّلُ الْفَجْرِ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِذِي طُوًى أَخَّرَهَا، حَتَّى قَالَ النَّاسُ: أَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ صَلَّاهُ، فَصَلَّاهَا أَمَامَ الشَّمْسِ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ: مَاذَا قُلْتُمْ ؟ قَالُوا: قُلْنَا: لَوْ صَلَّيْنَا. قَالَ: لَوْ فَعَلْتُمْ لَأَصَابَكُمْ عَذَابٌ ثُمَّ دَعَا السَّائِلَ فَقَالَ: وَقْتُهَا مَا بَيْنَ صَلَاتَيَّ
Translation
✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about the time of the morning prayer. He said: 'Pray it today with us and tomorrow.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at Qa' Namirah near al-Juhfah, he prayed it when the first light of dawn appeared. Then when he was at Dhu Tuwa, he delayed it until the people said: 'Has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away or has he prayed it?' He prayed it just before sunrise. Then he turned to the people and said: 'What did you say?' They said: 'We said: If only we had prayed.' He said: 'If you had done so, punishment would have befallen you.' Then he called the questioner and said: 'Its time is between my two prayers.'
