✧ Sleeping Before It and Staying Awake After It

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَتَحَدَّثُ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ فَنَادَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ: أَلَا تُرِيحُ كَاتِبَيْكَ يَا عُرَيَّةُ ؟ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ لَا يَنَامُ قَبْلَهَا، وَلَا يَتَحَدَّثُ بَعْدَهَا
Translation
✧ I was conversing after the late evening prayer when ʿĀ’ishah called out to me: “Will you not give your two scribes a rest, O ʿUrayyah? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not sleep before it nor converse after it.”
