The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to a man of the Ansār, seeking him, but did not find him, so he sat until the man came. When the man saw the Prophet ﷺ, he tied a rope around his waist, then climbed one of his date palms and cut a cluster of dates from it, and brought it close to the Prophet ﷺ. Then he went into his sheep and took a ewe to slaughter it. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Avoid the milch ewe." He said: When he had finished, the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "When captives come to us, come to us." He said: Captives came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he distributed them among the people until only two slaves remained with him. The Ansārī came, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "Choose whichever of them you wish." He said: No, you choose for me, O Messenger of Allah. He said: The Prophet ﷺ rubbed one of his hands over the other twice, saying: "The one who is consulted is trustworthy. The one who is consulted is trustworthy. Take this one" - pointing to one of them - "for I have seen him praying."
