Translation

✧ A man came to Ibn al-Musayyib while he was in the mosque and asked him about a need, then went to leave. Ibn al-Musayyib said, 'Where do you intend?' He said, 'My companions are waiting for me.' Ibn al-Musayyib said, 'The adhan has been called, so do not leave.' The man said, 'They are on their mounts, and I dislike detaining them.' Ibn al-Musayyib said, 'Do not leave until you pray.' The man slipped away while Ibn al-Musayyib was distracted. Ibn al-Musayyib turned and said, 'Where is the man?' They said, 'He has gone.' He said, 'I do not think he will meet with good on this journey of his.' The man traveled only a few miles before falling from his mount, and his leg was broken.
