✧ Seeking excessive payment for the adhan and the reward for it

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ،
أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ: إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فِي اللهِ، قَالَ لَهُ: وَلَكِنِّي أُبْغِضُكَ فِي اللهِ. قَالَ: لِمَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّكَ تَبْغِي فِي أَذَانِكَ، وَتَأْخُذُ الْأَجْرَ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللهِ
Translation
✧ That a man said: I love you for the sake of Allah. He said to him: But I hate you for the sake of Allah. He said: Why? He said: You seek excessive payment in your call to prayer and take a wage for the Book of Allah.
