عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، وَحُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى يَقُولُ:
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: قَدْ أَهَمَّهُ الْأَذَانُ حَتَّى هَمَّ أَنْ يَأْمُرَ رِجَالًا فَيَقُومُونَ عَلَى آطَامِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَيُنَادُونَ لِلصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى نَقَسُوا، أَوْ كَادُوا أَنْ يَنْقُسُوا قَالَ: فَرَأَى رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ رَجُلًا عَلَى حَائِطِ الْمَسْجِدِ عَلَيْهِ بُرْدَانِ أَخْضَرَانِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ قَعْدَةً، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَقَالَ مِثْلَهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ مَرَّتَيْنِ الْإِقَامَةُ، فَغَدَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَحَدَّثَهُ فَقَالَ: عَلِّمْهَا بِلَالًا، ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ أَطَافَ بِيَ اللَّيْلَةَ الَّذِي أَطَافَ بِهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَلَكِنَّهُ سَبَقَنِي
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ was concerned about the adhan, so much so that he considered ordering men to stand on the towers of Madinah and call to prayer, until they made a clapper or nearly did so. He said: A man from the Ansar called Abd Allah b. Zayd saw a man on the wall of the mosque wearing two green garments, saying: Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah; ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah; ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah; ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah; hayya ‘ala al-salah; hayya ‘ala al-salah; hayya ‘ala al-falah; hayya ‘ala al-falah; Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; la ilaha illa Allah. Then he sat for a while and repeated it, then said: Qad qamat al-salah twice – the iqamah. Then he went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him. He said, “Teach it to Bilal.” Then Umar stood up and said, “The same vision that came to Abd Allah came to me last night, but he preceded me.”
