عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جَابِرٍ الْبَيَاضِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَخِي بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ أَنَّهُ بَيْنَا هُوَ نَائِمٌ إِذْ رَأَى رَجُلًا مَعَهُ خَشَبَتَانِ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فِي الْمَنَامِ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ هَذَيْنِ الْعُودَيْنِ، يَجْعَلُهُمَا نَاقُوسًا يُضْرَبُ بِهِ لِلصَّلَاةِ قَالَ: فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى صَاحِبِ الْعُودَيْنِ بِرَأْسِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَنَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ هَذَا، فَبَلَّغَهُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهُ بِالتَّأْذِينِ، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ: وَرَأَى عُمَرُ مِثْلَ رُؤْيَا عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَسَبَقَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: قُمْ فَأَذِّنْ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي فَظِيعُ الصَّوْتِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: فَعَلِّمْ بِلَالًا مَا رَأَيْتَ، فَعَلَّمَهُ فَكَانَ بِلَالٌ يُؤَذِّنُ
Translation
✧ Abd Allah b. Zayd, the brother of the Banu al-Harith b. al-Khazraj, reported that while he was sleeping, he saw a man carrying two pieces of wood. He said: I said to him in the dream, “The Prophet ﷺ wants to buy these two pieces of wood to make a bell to be struck for prayer.” He said: The man with the two pieces of wood turned his head and said, “I shall guide you to what is better than this.” Then the dream was conveyed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he ordered him to give the adhan. Abd Allah b. Zayd woke up. He said: And Umar saw a vision similar to that of Abd Allah b. Zayd, but Abd Allah b. Zayd preceded him to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of that. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, “Arise and give the adhan.” He said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have a terrible voice.” He said to him, “Then teach Bilal what you saw.” So he taught him, and Bilal used to give the adhan.
