عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَسْلَمَ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ قَالَ:
لَمَّا قَدِمَ عُمَرُ الشَّامَ صَنَعَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ النَّصَارَى طَعَامًا وَدَعَاهُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: إِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ كَنَائِسَكُمْ مِنَ الصُّوَرِ الَّتِي فِيهَا
Translation
✧ When ʿUmar came to Syria, a man from among the leading Christians prepared food for him and invited him. ʿUmar said: 'We do not enter your churches because of the images in them.'
