Musannaf 'Abd al-Razzaq 1547

✧ Praying in his house not knowing whether it is pure or not

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَعْمِدُ مَكَانًا مِنْ بَيْتِي لَيْسَ فِيهِ مَسْجِدٌ، لَا أَعْلَمُ بِهِ بَأْسًا فَأُصَلِّي فِيهِ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قُلْتُ: وَلَا أَرُشُّ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، إِلَّا أَنْ تَخْشَى أَنْ يَكُونَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ، فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَارْشُشْهُ

Translation

✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: May I designate a spot in my house that is not a mosque, and I do not know of any impurity in it, and pray there? He said: Yes. I said: And I should not sprinkle it [with water]? He said: No, unless you fear that there may be impurity in it; then if you wish, sprinkle it.
