✧ What Removes Sins Through the Ablution

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ قَالَ:
كَانَ جَالِسًا مَعَ أَصْحَابٍ لَهُ، إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: مَنْ يُحَدِّثُنَا حَدِيثًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو: أَنَا، قَالَ: هِي، لِلهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ شَابَ شَيْبَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ: هِي، لِلهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ. قَالَ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ رَمَى سَهْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كَانَ لَهُ عِدْلُ رَقَبَةٍ قَالَ: هِي، لِلهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ. قَالَ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَسَمَةً أَعْتَقَ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهَا عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ. قَالَ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَسَمَتَيْنِ، أَعْتَقَ اللهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوَيْنِ مِنْهُمَا عُضْوَيْنِ مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ قَالَ: هِي، لِلهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ. قَالَ: وَحَدِيثًا لَوْ أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنْهُ إِلَّا مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا أَوْ خَمْسًا لَمْ أُحَدِّثْكُمُوهُ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَيَغْسِلُ وَجْهَهُ إِلَّا تَسَاقَطَتْ خَطَايَا وَجْهِهِ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ لِحْيَتِهِ، فَإِذَا غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ تَسَاقَطَتْ خَطَايَا يَدَيْهِ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَظْفَارِهِ، فَإِذَا مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ تَسَاقَطَتْ خَطَايَا رَأْسِهِ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ شَعَرِهِ، فَإِذَا غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ تَسَاقَطَتْ خَطَايَا رِجْلَيْهِ مِنْ بَاطِنِهِمَا، فَإِنْ أَتَى مَسْجِدًا فَصَلَّى فِي جَمَاعَةٍ فِيهِ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللهِ، فَإِنْ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَانَتَا كَفَّارَةً قَالَ: هِي، لِلهِ أَبُوكَ وَاحْذَرْ، حَدِّثْ وَلَا تُخْطِئْ.
Translation
✧ He was sitting with companions of his when a man said to him: Who will narrate to us a hadith from the Messenger of God ﷺ? 'Amr said: I will. He said: Go on, may your father be for God, and be careful. He said: I heard him say: Whoever grows a grey hair in the path of God, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection. He said: Go on, may your father be for God, and be careful. He said: And I heard him say: Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of God, it is for him like freeing a slave. He said: Go on, may your father be for God, and be careful. He said: And I heard him say: Whoever frees a soul, God frees for every limb of it a limb of him from the Fire. He said: And I heard him say: Whoever frees two souls, God frees for every two limbs of them two limbs of him from the Fire. He said: Go on, may your father be for God, and be careful. He said: And a hadith that if I had not heard it from him once or twice or three or four or five times, I would not narrate it to you: There is no Muslim servant who performs ablution and washes his face except that the sins of his face fall from the edges of his beard; when he washes his hands, the sins of his hands fall from between his fingernails; when he wipes his head, the sins of his head fall from the ends of his hair; when he washes his feet, the sins of his feet fall from their soles. If he goes to a mosque and prays in congregation there, his reward falls upon God; and if he stands and prays two rak'ahs, they are an expiation. He said: Go on, may your father be for God, and be careful; narrate and do not err.
