✧ Urine and dung of animals

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَرَأَيْتَ مَا كُنْتَ آكِلَهُ، أَتَغْسِلُ ثَوْبَكَ مِنْ سَلْحِهِ أَوْ بَوْلِهِ ؟ قَالَ: وَمَا ذَلِكَ ؟ قُلْتُ: الْإِبِلُ، قُلْتُ: وَالْبَقَرُ وَالشَّاءُ وَالصَّيْدُ وَالطَّيْرُ قَالَ: لَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَغْسِلَ ثَوْبِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا أَنْ أُقَذِّرَ رِيحَهُ أَوْ يُرَى فِي ثَوْبِي، قُلْتُ: فَالْفَرَسُ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ يُؤْكَلُ لَحْمُهُ قَالَ: لَعَلِّي أَنْ أَغْسِلَ ثَوْبِي مِنْ رَوْثِهِ أَوْ بَوْلِهِ وَمَا عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَوْ تَرَكْتُ مِنْ بَأْسٍ قَالَ: امْسَحْهُ وَارْشُشْهُ

Translation

✧ I said to 'Ata': What do you think about that which you would eat—do you wash your garment from its droppings or its urine? He said: And what is that? I said: Camels. I said: And cows, sheep, game, and birds. He said: I would not wash my garment from that unless I found its odor disgusting or it was seen on my garment. I said: What about the horse, since its meat used to be eaten? He said: Perhaps I would wash my garment from its dung or its urine. There is no harm upon me in that if I left it. He said: Wipe it and sprinkle water on it.
