عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ أَصَابَتْهُ جَنَابَةٌ وَهُوَ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ: أَتَرَوْنَا نُدْرِكُ الْمَاءَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، فَأَسْرَعَ السَّيْرَ حَتَّى أَدْرَكَ فَاغْتَسَلَ وَجَعَلَ يَغْسِلُ مَا رَأَى مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فِي ثَوْبِهِ، فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ: لَوْ لَبِسْتَ ثَوْبًا غَيْرَ هَذَا وَصَلَّيْتَ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: إِنْ وَجَدْتُ ثَوْبًا وَجَدَهُ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ ؟ إِنِّي لَوْ فَعَلْتُ لَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً وَلَكِنِّي أَغْسِلُ مَا رَأَيْتُ، وَأَنْضَحُ مَا لَمْ أَرَهُ
Translation
✧ Umar was struck by janabah while on a journey. When morning came, he said: Do you think we can reach the water before sunrise? They said: Yes. He hurried the travel until he reached it, then bathed and began washing what he saw of the janabah in his garment. Amr b. al-As said: If only you wore a garment other than this and prayed. Umar said to him: If I found a garment, would every human find one? If I did that, it would become a sunnah, but I wash what I saw and sprinkle what I did not see.
