عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ:
اعْتَمَرَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فِي رَكْبٍ فِيهِمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ، وَأَنَّ عُمَرَ عَرَّسَ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمِيَاهِ، فَاحْتَلَمَ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ كَادَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ، فَرَكِبَ، وَكَانَ الرَّفْعُ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْمَاءَ، فَجَلَسَ عَلَى الْمَاءِ يَغْسِلُ مَا رَأَى مِنَ الِاحْتِلَامِ حَتَّى أَسْفَرَ، فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو: أَصْبَحْتَ وَمَعَنَا ثِيَابٌ، الْبَسْهَا وَدَعْ ثَوْبَكَ يُغْسَلُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: وَاعَجَبًا لَكَ يَا عَمْرُو، لَئِنْ كُنْتَ تَجِدُ الثِّيَابَ أَفَكُلُّ النَّاسِ يَجِدُونَ الثِّيَابَ ؟ فَوَاللهِ لَوْ فَعَلْتُ لَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً، لَا بَلْ أَغْسِلُ مَا رَأَيْتُ وَأَنْضَحُ مَا لَمْ أَرَ
Translation
✧ He performed umrah with Umar b. al-Khattab in a group that included Amr b. al-As. Umar halted for the night on some part of the road near some waters, then he had a wet dream. He woke when dawn had almost broken, so he mounted, and the journey continued until he came to the water. He sat by the water washing what he saw of the wet dream until it became bright. Amr said: You have reached the morning, and we have garments with us. Wear them and leave your garment to be washed. Umar said: How amazing you are, O Amr! If you can find garments, does every person find garments? By God, if I did that, it would become a sunnah. No, rather I wash what I saw and sprinkle what I did not see.
