Translation

✧ Extra text: Ibn ʿUmar clothed him with two garments when he was a boy. He said: He entered the mosque and found him praying wrapped in a single garment. He said: Do you not have two garments to wear? I said: Yes, I do. He said: Do you think that if I sent you to the back of the house you would wear them? He said: Yes. He said: Is God more deserving that you adorn yourself for Him, or people? Nāfiʿ said: I said: Rather God. Then he informed him from the Messenger of God or from ʿUmar—Nāfiʿ was certain it was from one of the two, and I think it was from the Messenger of God ﷺ—that he said: None of you should wrap himself in prayer as the Jews wrap themselves. Let him drape it. Whoever has two garments should wear one as a waist-wrapper and then pray.
