Translation
✧ I entered upon ʿĀʾishah with a veil between her and me. She said [1]: From which people are you? I said: From Kindah. She said: From which of the military districts are you? I said: From the people of Homs. She said: From the people of Homs who send their women into the bathhouses? I said: Yes, by God, they do that. She said: When a Muslim woman takes off her clothes anywhere other than her husband's house, she has torn a veil between herself and her Lord. If they have become bold about that, then let one of them wrap herself in a wide, ample garment that covers her entire body, so that another woman does not go off and describe her to a beloved or a hated one. He said: I said to her: I have no control over any of that, so tell me about what I need. I said [2]: What is your need? He said: I said: Did you hear the Messenger of God ﷺ say: “A time will come upon him when he will not be able to intercede for anyone”? She said: By the One who is such and such, I asked him about it while we were under a single blanket, and he said: “Yes, when the ṣirāṭ is set up, when some faces become white and other faces become black, and at the bridge when it is heated and sharpened until it becomes like the edge of a sword, and heated until it becomes like a live coal. As for the believer, he will cross it and it will not harm him. As for the hypocrite, he will go on until, when he is in its middle, his feet will be cut, and he will reach down with his hands to his feet. Have you ever seen a man walking barefoot when a thorn catches him so that it almost pierces his foot? In the same way he will reach down with his hands to his feet, and the angel of punishment will strike him with a hook in his forelock and throw him into Hell, where he will fall for fifty years.” I said: Will he be heavy? He said: With the weight of five pregnant camels. On that day, “the guilty will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.”
