I said to him, meaning ʿAṭāʾ: A man married a woman during her waiting period (ʿiddah) from another man, and during her waiting period from him, then he divorced her without finalizing the divorce, and then he married her sister during her waiting period. He said: "We annul it, and he returns the inheritance, even if fifty years have passed." Then afterwards he said: "If that time has passed, he does not return it." He said: And ʿAbd al-Karīm said: "He returns it, even if a long time has passed, forever."
