Machine translation, not reviewed

Do not be excessive in the dowries of women, for if it were an honor in this world and piety in the sight of God, the one most deserving of it among you would have been the Prophet ﷺ. No woman among his wives or his daughters was given a dowry of more than twelve ūqiyyah. A man may inflate the dowry of a woman until it becomes a source of regret in his heart, and he says: "I have borne hardship for you to the point of the water-skin's strap." He said: I was a born slave-boy (muwallad) and did not know what this meant. He said: And another thing: you say of those who are killed in these expeditions of yours, "So-and-so was killed as a martyr," or "So-and-so died as a martyr," when perhaps he had set out with the side of his mount, or its rear, loaded down with silver, seeking trade. But say as the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever is killed in the cause of God, or dies, will have Paradise."
