✧ Killing women and children

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْمُرَقِّعِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ، شَهِدَ عَلَى جَدِّهِ رَبَاحِ بْنِ رَبِيعٍ الْحَنْظَلِيِّ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ
أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَا، وَكَانَ عَلَى الْمُقَدِّمَةِ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، فَمَرَّ رَبَاحٌ وَأَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ قَتِيلٍ مِمَّا أَصَابَ الْمُقَدِّمَةُ، فَوَقَفُوا عَلَيْهَا يَنْظُرُونَ، يَتَعَجَّبُونَ مِنْ خَلْقِهَا. حَتَّى أَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لَهُ، فَفَرَّجُوا عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ، فَوَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: " مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ لِتُقَاتِلَ " ! ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْقَوْمِ، فَقَالَ لِأَحَدِهِمُ: الْحَقْ خَالِدًا، فَقُلْ: لَا تَقْتُلْ ذُرِّيَّةً، وَلَا عَسِيفًا
Translation
✧ He went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ on an expedition he undertook. Khalid b. al-Walid was in command of the vanguard. Rabah and the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ passed by a slain woman, among those the vanguard had struck. They stopped at her, looking, marveling at her form. Until the Messenger of God ﷺ came up on a she-camel of his, and they made way from the woman. The Messenger of God ﷺ stopped, looking at her, and said, "This one was not one to fight!" Then he looked into the faces of the people and said to one of them, "Catch up with Khalid and say: Do not kill a child, nor a hireling."
