✧ Taking jizya from the Magians

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ بَجَالَةَ التَّمِيمِيِّ
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ لَمْ يُرِدْ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْجِزْيَةَ مِنَ الْمَجُوسِ، حَتَّى شَهِدَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَخَذَهَا مِنْ مَجُوسِ هَجَرَ
Translation
✧ ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb did not want to take the jizya from the Magians until ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf testified that the Messenger of God ﷺ took it from the Magians of Hajar.
