✧ Hudud punishments for the people of the covenant

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَامِرٍ، قَالَا
فِي أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِذَا رُفِعُوا إِلَى قُضَاةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، قَالَا: " إِنْ شَاءَ الْوَالِي قَضَى بَيْنَهُمْ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُمْ؛ فَإِنْ قَضَى بَيْنَهُمْ قَضَى بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ
Translation
✧ Regarding the People of the Book when they are brought before the judges of the Muslims, they (two authorities) said: 'If the governor wishes, he may judge between them, and if he wishes, he may turn away from them; but if he judges between them, he judges by what Allah has revealed.'
