✧ A polytheist does not enter Medina

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ:

كَانَ عُمَرُ لَا يَدَعُ النَّصْرَانِيَّ وَالْيَهُودِيَّ وَالْمَجُوسِيَّ إِذَا دَخَلُوا الْمَدِينَةَ أَنْ يُقِيمُوا بِهَا إِلَّا ثَلَاثًا، قَدْرَ مَا يُنْفِقُوا سِلْعَتَهُمْ. فَلَمَّا أُصِيبَ عُمَرُ قَالَ: " قَدْ كُنْتُ أَمَرْتُكُمْ أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ، وَلَوْ كَانَ الْمُصَابُ غَيْرِي لَكَانَ لَهُ فِيهِ أَمْرٌ ". قَالَ: " وَكَانَ يُقَالُ: لَا يَجْتَمِعُ بِهَا دِينَانِ

Translation

✧ Umar would not allow a Christian, a Jew, or a Magian, if they entered Medina, to remain there more than three days, enough time to sell their goods. When Umar was struck, he said: “I had commanded you that none of them should enter upon us, and if the one struck were other than me, he would have authority in it.” He said: “And it was said: Two religions shall not meet there.”
