✧ Washing and shrouding a disbeliever

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، وَالثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ نَاجِيَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْدِيِّ:
أَنَّ أَبَا طَالِبٍ لَمَّا مَاتَ انْطَلَقَ عَلِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ عَمَّكَ الشَّيْخَ الضَّالَّ قَدْ مَاتَ، فَمَنْ يُوَارِيهِ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: اذْهَبْ فَوَارِ أَبَاكَ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَلَا تُحْدِثْ حَدَثًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي ! قَالَ: فَأَتَيْتُهُ، فَأَمَرَنِي فَاغْتَسَلْتُ، ثُمَّ دَعَا لِي بِدَعَوَاتٍ مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ لِي بِهَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ
Translation
✧ When Abu Talib died, Ali went to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, your misguided old uncle has died; who will bury him?” The Prophet ﷺ said to him: “Go and bury your father, and when you finish, do not do anything until you come to me.” He said: “So I came to him, and he ordered me, and I performed ghusl. Then he supplicated for me with supplications such that nothing on earth would please me more than them.”
