✧ Washing and shrouding a disbeliever

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ:
جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّيْخَ الضَّالَّ - لِأَبِي طَالِبٍ - قَدْ مَاتَ ! قَالَ: فَاغْسِلْهُ ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلْ كَمَا تَغْتَسِلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ، ثُمَّ أَجِنَّهُ. قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ لِأَفْعَلَ، قَالَ: " فَأْمُرْ غَيْرَكَ
Translation
✧ Ali came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “This misguided old man—meaning Abu Talib—has died!” He said: “Wash him, then perform ghusl as you would for major ritual impurity, then bury him.” He said: “I will not do it.” He said: “Then command someone else.”
