machine translationHe said: And on this topic there are narrations from Ibn ʿUmar, Abū Hurayrah, ʿĀʾishah and Ibn ʿAbbās. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Jābir is a good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith, and the practice according to this is among the people of knowledge from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ and others. They hold that a camel suffices for seven and a cow for seven. This is the view of Sufyān al-Thawrī, al-Shāfiʿī and Aḥmad. It has been narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās, from the Prophet ﷺ, that a cow suffices for seven and a camel for ten. This is the view of Isḥāq, and he used this hadith as evidence. As for the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās, we only know it through one route.
