حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ، مَعَنَا النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ، طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ، فَلْيَحْلِلْ، قُلْنَا: أَيُّ الْحِلِّ ؟ قَالَ: الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ. قَالَ: فَأَتَيْنَا النِّسَاءَ، وَلَبِسْنَا الثِّيَابَ، وَمَسِسْنَا الطِّيبَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ، وَكَفَانَا الطَّوَافُ الْأَوَّلُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، وَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَشْتَرِكَ فِي الْإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ كُلُّ سَبْعَةٍ مِنَّا فِي بَدَنَةٍ، فَجَاءَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَيِّنْ لَنَا دِينَنَا كَأَنَّا خُلِقْنَا الْآنَ، أَرَأَيْتَ عُمْرَتَنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ ؟ فَقَالَ: لَا، بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ. قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَيِّنْ لَنَا دِينَنَا كَأَنَّا خُلِقْنَا الْآنَ فِيمَا الْعَمَلُ الْيَوْمَ ؟ أَفِيمَا جَفَّتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ، أَوْ فِيمَا يُسْتَقْبَلُ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، بَلْ فِيمَا جَفَّتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ، وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ. قَالَ: فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ ؟ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: فَسَمِعْتُ مَنْ سَمِعَ مِنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ: قَالَ: اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ

✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proclaiming the talbiyah for Hajj, and with us were women and children. When we reached Makkah, we circumambulated the House and ran between al-Safa and al-Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: 'Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should exit ihram.' We said: 'What kind of exiting?' He said: 'Complete exiting.' He said: So we went to our wives, put on our clothes, and applied perfume. When the day of Tarwiyah came, we proclaimed the talbiyah for Hajj, and the first tawaf between al-Safa and al-Marwah sufficed for us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to share in camels and cows, every seven of us in one sacrificial animal. Then Suraqah b. Malik b. Ju'shum came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, clarify our religion for us as if we were just created. Do you consider this umrah of ours for this year of ours or forever?' He said: 'No, rather forever.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, clarify our religion for us as if we were just created. In what is the action today? Is it in what the pens have dried upon and the decrees have run with, or in what is to come?' He said: 'No, rather in what the pens have dried upon and the decrees have run with.' He said: 'Then in what is action?' Abu al-Nadr said in his hadith: I heard those who heard from Abu al-Zubayr say: He said: 'Act, for everyone is facilitated.'
