حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْكُوفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي نُصَيْرَةَ عَنْ مَوْلًى لأَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
مَا أَصَرَّ مَنِ اسْتَغْفَرَ وَلَوْ فَعَلَهُ فِي الْيَوْمِ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً

machine translationWe do not know this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ by any route other than this one, from Abū Bakr. ʿUthmān b. Wāqid is well known; Abū Muʿāwiyah, Abū Yaḥyā al-Ḥimmānī and others narrated from him. As for Abū Nuṣayrah and the freed slave of Abū Bakr, they are not known. But since this hadith is not known except through this route, we found no alternative but to write it down and make clear its defect.
